Lebanon: Hundreds of employees fired daily

The president of the General Union of Lebanese Trade Unions, Marouen Khouli, has revealed that hundreds of employees are fired daily without being informed and without any intervention by the Ministry of Labor while the employers continue to carry out wage levies thus exploiting the conditions in which Lebanon has been living for weeks.

In a media statement, Marouen Khouli called on the Ministry of Labor to reveal the official statistics of collective redundancies carried out by companies and companies since 1 October and to reveal the real data on the wage levies in accordance with paragraph E Article 50 of the Labor Code. The General Union of Lebanese Trade Unions has demanded the publication of the unemployment rate and the number of Lebanese employees changed by Syrians.

Marouen Khouli has called for a real fight against unfair dismissals, absenteeism is no longer enough to dismiss an employee, no longer lower wages and reinstate all the dismissed since October 17. The complainant also called for compliance with the legal deadline for filing complaints and said that the current affairs government is obliged to respect international conventions and sustainable development plans decided by the Council of State of the shura since 2013.
