Morocco: Construction workers at 'Nour' solar power station without salaries

Workers and officials of Moroccan companies responsible for the construction of the 'Nour' solar power plant, located in the city of Ouarzazate, threatened to start protest movements.

The companies concerned are indeed threatened with bankruptcy and risk dismissing all their staff because of the financial difficulties that have been going on for two years. A financial crisis caused by the Chinese company, executing the project, which did not pay the Moroccan companies; a debt of about 20 billion centimes according to the newspaper 'Assabah'.

The newspaper claimed that these companies, which started construction 'Nour2' and 'Nour3', are in a difficult financial situation that could force them to declare bankruptcy and dismiss the staff.
