Jordan: Non-Jordanian workers without unemployment benefits

The online newspaper 'Al Ghad' has indicated that the Social Security Society deprives foreigners of the unemployment benefits granted for studies or care, despite the fact that the social security fund collects half of the insured's salary and 1% from the companies. 'Al Ghad' that these benefits are only granted to insured persons, pre-retirees and employees of the private sector from 1 September 2011 provided that the balance of savings account of the insured is not less than 300 dinars .

The online newspaper 'Al Ghad' explained that the decision of the Social Security Society, which came into effect recently after the amendment of an article of the Social Security Act, only allows unemployment benefits to be granted. to the Jordanians which led the foreign workers declared to the fund to oppose the said decision explaining that they pay the same contribution as the Jordanians.

The Jordanian Government recently amended the Social Security Act and Article 52 (C), which provides that the Jordanian insured may submit an application for the withdrawal of all or part of the sum in his savings account for the education of his children or to cover expenses of medical care and this according to conditions issued by the Council of the society.
