Lebanon: General strike and demonstration in the House of Representatives

In a statement issued yesterday, the National Federation of Employees' and Workers' Unions in Lebanon (FENASOL) called for a general strike and a protest rally in the House of Representatives.

The FENASOL rejected the current policy and explained that all parties concerned are shocked to see that, 25 days after the outbreak of the People's Revolution, no new head of government was appointed while Parliament continues to work to approve the law on general amnesty; a law that provides an agreement to forgive public scavengers and corrupt and thieves public property and social security funds. According to the Union, this law will also allow the agents who served the Zionist enemy to escape unscathed.

In addition, the FENASOL warned against conspiracies against workers and recalled that among the priorities of the people's movement are the drafting of a law aimed at money looted, the formation of an independent government responsible for solving the economic crisis, the improvement of services (electricity, schooling, transport, etc.) and the issuing of a new law concerning free elections and far from any calculation sectarian.
