Palestine: Chahar Saad calls for the fight against brokers work permits

The Secretary-General of the Palestinian General Federation of Trade Unions (PGFTU), Chahar Saad, said that the phenomenon of black market work permit brokers has become commonplace and is very far from the conventions signed by Palestine. and 'Israel'; conventions that regulate relations between the Palestinian National Authority and the occupation government.

According to Saad, this phenomenon only adds to the costs for Palestinian workers who are lost between Palestinian and 'Israeli' brokers who sell work permits to those seeking to reach the Israeli labor market knowing that these same permits are granted free of charge. In this context, Chahar Saad applauded the ministerial decree concerning the eradication of the scourge of brokers from work permits in the black market.

The Secretary-General of the Palestine General Workers' Federation stated that the occupation government has granted the prerogative of granting work permits to employees and Israeli intelligence officers assisted by local collaborators. Prices range from 2000 to 6000 shekels.

Saad said that these are government documents issued by the occupation army that can not be signed without the approval of the 'Israeli' government, which means that the same government is aware of the sale of these licenses in the black market and is even involved in this traffic. He added that these are grave breaches of the economic agreements signed between 'Israel' and the Palestine Liberation Organization, the Paris Agreement in Article 37 (concerning the regulation of entry and the exit of Israeli workers' via Israeli and Palestinian recruitment offices), International Labor Organization Convention 101 (on free work permit) and the ILO Convention number 44 of the year 1934 concerning unemployment.

Chahar Saad said the decision by Mohammad Shtayyeh's government to fight black market work permit brokers will have a big impact on the national economy, which is losing about $ 2 billion per year (which represent 80,000 work permits issued by the 'Israeli' government and intended for the black market).
