Mauritania: Colleges without seats and a shortage of 142 teachers in Nouadhibou governorate

The Mauritanian online newspaper 'Al Akhbar' has revealed that three colleges in Nouadhibou governorate do not have a seat and that the 'Madrid' college currently sits at school number 10 without an office or bathroom. For the college 'Atmaymashat', the head office is located in an isolated area and teachers are composed by retirees while the establishment was founded in 2018 with the aim of installing the inhabitants in rural areas.

The online newspaper also mentioned the college 'Echami' which is housed at the headquarters of a secondary high school pilot built in 2014 and which has still not opened its doors for no reason.

Regarding the teacher's failure, the online newspaper reported that junior high school 1 lacks 12 teachers, high school 3 needs five teachers, while high school 'Ettarhil' and 'Blinwar' suffer from a shortage of teachers, as well as the schools in the governorate’s rural areas. The online newspaper said the governorate lacks 62 teachers in different specialties and 80 Arabic teachers.

In addition, the online newspaper recalled that Nouadhibou also lacks 43 classes with 325 existing while the need is 368.
