Jordan: Workers at 'Qatrana Cement' factory go on hunger strike

The Jordanian Labor Observer said workers at the Qatrana Cement factory have been on an open hunger strike since last Monday.

In a letter sent by the factory's union committee to the administration, it was explained that the strike was decided after the company withdrew from the application of the Labor Code and the instructions of the Ministry of Labor concerning the replacement of Jordanian workers by foreigners. Seventy experienced technicians have submitted their resignations of 'Qatrana Cement' because of the repressions and the non-application of the verdict of the Labor Court number 2/2018 concerning the improvement of health insurance.
