The new shareholder of the Biskra governorate wire plant fired 30 workers after closing the plant.
The Algerian newspaper 'Echourouk' reported that the workers have been on strike for about a month, demanding the improvement of production and recovering their rights, before they are surprised by a collective dismissal that violates the collective agreement previously signed.
The workers said that the balance sheets of the last three years are positive, which did not prevent the new shareholder from blocking the production premium by setting up unfeasible conditions and by seeking, by all means, to close the factory.
The workers called on the Ministry of Industry to intervene quickly to save the complex which represents a major industrial center founded in 1982, employs more than 1,200 workers and enjoys one of the most recognized qualities in the African continent.
It is worth noting that 70% of the complex shares were sold to 'General Cable' in 2008.
