The Lebanese association 'Struggle for Humankind' noted that there are more than 100,000 child laborers in Lebanon, 35,000 of them being Lebanese. They work mainly in the industrial sector and agriculture.
During its congress, entitled 'Child Labor in Lebanon between Law and Reality', the association came up with a set of proposals and instructions for the establishment of a national plan in collaboration between State and civil society with the aim of eradicating this scourge permanently.
In this context, the association is called for the vocational training of children and young people on the issue of general safety and that of employers and directors.
'Struggle for Humankind' also called for the establishment of specialized vocational schools and collaboration with the Association of Industrialists to educate children and young people on the issue of financial administration.
Experts, for their part, felt that these instructions are an important contradiction since they are limited to studying the causes of poverty. The experts explained that the guidelines and recommendations of the association should be concerned with the issue of adult training that forces children to work.
