The Court of First Instance in Jalan Bani Bu Ali recently issued four judicial verdicts against a recruitment bureau; verdicts that imposed fines of ¥ 400 riyals ($ 1,030) on the office owner for violating section 39 and section 23 of the Consumer Protection Code.
The verdict was issued following a complaint filed with the General Administration of Consumer Protection, where the complainants explained that they had appealed to that office for the recruitment of domestic workers. Shortly afterwards, the workers concerned refused to continue the work and the employers agreed with the office, as stipulated in the guarantee clause, to have the women workers replaced, which was not done.
Disengagement of the recruiting office with regard to the replacement of women workers to bring employers to file their complaint with the Mechanism that took the necessary measures before transferring the case to the Prosecutor General. The complaint was subsequently dealt with by the Court of First Instance, which decided to fine the office of 400 riyals and to reimburse the recruitment fee of 5810 Omani riyals ($ 15,000).
