Saudi Arabia will waive the fees it requires industrial companies to pay for their foreign workers for a period of five years, lightening a burden on the private sector, the industry and mineral resources ministry, Bandar Alkhorayef, said.
The Saudi Ministerial Council recently decided to cover the costs for foreign industrial workers of authorized companies from October 01st ,2019.
The government, under a job creation drive, had imposed fees on expatriate workers to encourage hiring of Saudis. Companies have said the fees significantly increase operating costs.
This measure was decided in collaboration with the Ministry of Industry and Mineral Resources, the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Labor and Social Development. The fees will be deducted from the private sector stimulus program budget.
