Graduate Civil Servants at the Ministry of Education on strike decided to observe a national strike on September 30 and October 1, 2019 and to organize a central sit-in in Rabat on September 30 with the possibility of starting an open strike during next weeks. The protesters also called on the ministry to put an end to injustice and exclusion that graduates are facing in terms of promotions.
The Union Coalition – which includes the National Union of Education (CDT), the Free Education Federation (UGTM), the National Union of Education (FDT), the National Federation of Education (UMT) and the National Federation of Education (FNE) – explained that the ministry is responsible for all these tensions because of its stubbornness in the issue of graduates promotions.
The Coalition also denounced the attitude of ministry officials in relation to the activism of graduates of the year 2016 who seek to obtain their rights regarding career advancement like their colleagues in other promotions. The Coalition ensured that the ministry continues to mistreat the protesters instead of seeking a solution by initiating a real dialogue for a final solution.
