Egypt: Six workers arrested at 'Oraglo' factory

The 'Oraglo' workers investigation continued until September 17th 2019. Infact, the workers were arrested by police who attacked their sit-in last Monday. Out of nineteen arrested workers, the public prosecutor released 13 and kept 6 for the investigation.

The six workers are currently accused of "gathering, blocking road and traffic and general strike which caused economic damage to the investment region".

For their part, trade union sources noted that the six workers are: Imen Abdelhamid Abdallah, Samira Sid Mohamed, Mohamed Issam Mohamed, Mohamed Ala Brahim, Nader Sayed Mohamed Kendil and Brahim Mohamed Ali.

The workers began, Saturday, September 14, protests against the blocking of the premium of the month of July and the salary increase. For its part, the Egyptian Office of Union Services expressed its unconditional support for the protesters and their petitions and emphasized the right of the persons concerned to expression and to strike. The Office also warned of the danger of violent practices against workers' strikes and called for the implementation of dialogue and collective bargaining.
