"Assafir 24" newspaper reported statements of a number of workers in Ain Beni Mathar Thermo-Solar Power Station in Jerada province, that workers are exposed to harassment, troubles, intimidation and threats of expulsion from the strip.
The workers revealed that they receive a lower salary than the minimum wage stipulated in Morocco's labor law, the absence of compensation for exposure to the dangers for some of them, and the different working hours in working days declared monthly for the same worker from one month to another depending on the employer's desire and mood.
The workers complain of the lack of transportation, the distance between public and private transport routes, and the dangers on the road of stray dogs and poisonous reptiles, which force them to spend a large sums from their wages for transportation by hiring different transportation means.
Workers suffer from the absence of compensation for night work hours and from the differences in salaries between workers in the same job, in the same position and same hours, and that employment contracts do not meet the legal requirements of Morocco's labor law.
As for safety measures, the plant suffers from the absence of essential safety equipment, the absence of medicines from the dispensary. The company damages the environment, as oil leaks to the soil, harming the environment, especially the underground water and the water table in the area, moreover the disposal and burial of waste in the areas surrounding the thermal station.
