The Jordan Labor Observatory has revealed that the deputy president of the Jordanian Teachers Association, Nasser Nouassra, has declared a general sector strike today, Sunday.
Nouassra said during his speech amid the sit-in of thousands of teachers on Thursday in Abdoun :" "We have given the Jordanian government time until 4:15 pm to open the way for us to the fourth roundabout, but this deadline has expired and the government has decided to strike on Sunday,"
He confirmed that the decision to strike on Sunday was unanimously issued by the union council.
Workers are claiming the 50 percent salary increase agreed upon with the government five years ago.
