The Council of Ministers approved at its meeting last Monday, a draft law on the work permit fees for non-Jordanians for 2019, to unify work permit fees for several sectors and economic activities, and identify new work permit fees, as a reform measure in the labor sector.
At the meeting chaired by Prime Minister Omar Razzaz, the Cabinet also approved the recommendation of the Minister of Labor, Nidal Batayneh, to initiate procedures to legalize and regulate the situation of migrant workers in contravention..
Batayneh revealed that this system came to unify the work permit fees for multiple sectors and economic activities at 500 dinars ($ 700), and to set fees for new work permit, as a reform measure in the labor sector. This in addition to issuing two new types of work permits, the first of which is the daily work permit In the agricultural sector, construction sector, loading and unloading (the open permit), in addition to the permit of workers with special skills.
In this context Batayneh said that the new system for fees will become effective as of the date of its publication in the official gazette, while the Cabinet's decision to redress the situation of migrant workers will be applied two months from the date of entry into force of the fees system.
As regards the main features of the system, Batayneh said that the permits fees in general were unchanged and the permits for domestic workers were reduced to 500 dinars ($ 700)
instead of 600 dinars ($ 850). As for the agricultural daily permit (open) will be 1500 dinars ($ 2115), and for the daily (open) construction permit, loading and unloading will be 2000 dinars annually ($ 2820). Meanwhile issuing agricultural and construction permits remain as is currently with the same fees. The permit for those with outstanding skills will be 2500 dinars per year ($ 3526).
