The Number of unemployed rises in Tunisia

Official reports mentioned that the number of unemployed in Tunisia reached 634.9 thousand amid the decline in economic growth and the disruption of investments.

Each growth point, according to economists, allows the creation of 17,000 jobs, whereas since 2013, growth rates have fluctuated between 0.8 percent and 2.5 percent, against government estimates of between 2.5 percent and 4. 5 per cent.

Economists assert that the unemployment rate in Tunisia will remain high and the feeling of frustration among the unemployed will increase, unless the Tunisian economy surpasses the weak growth rates achieved each year, pointing out that the large discrepancy between the growth estimates and the rates actually achieved reflects the government's miscalculation of economic indicators on which the budget is based. This explains the continued social situation congestion.

The International Monetary Fund has called on Tunisia to put an end to investors' departure from the country, so that it can reduce the high unemployment rates, which reach 15% and up to 35% among youth.
