Egypt: Parliament prepares to discuss draft law on domestic workers

Local media in Egypt said parliamentarians will soon introduce a bill on domestic workers. In this context, MP Hela Abu Saad said that the workers concerned do not benefit from health insurance, pension or leave.

Recall that the member of the Parliamentary Committee on Education, Fayez Baraket, recently submitted a request for guidance to the Speaker of Parliament and the head of government on the crime rate committed against or by domestic workers.

Fayez Baraket pointed out that crime rates have increased because of the poor conditions of women workers who are also abused by their employers, which gives rise to a sense of injustice that drives them to commit crimes.
