Morocco: Garbage collectors in Fez continue their sit-in

The sit-in of the garbage collectors in Fez, started on August 5, continues in front of the Municipal Council’s headquarter. The protesters, members of the local office of the Democratic Confederation of Labor (CDT), call for respect for trade union rights, wage increases and the payment of Eid Aladhha bonus.

Mohamed Hachadi, a member of the local CDT office, said the garbage workers are also protesting against the dismissal of seven of their colleagues from the 'Ozone' company; workers dismissed because of their trade union membership. He added that the dismissed workers were called back to work if they resigned from the regional office of the CDT.

It is worth noting that the local authorities have still not responded to this case.
