The General Federation of Trade Unions in Iraq organized a protest on the morning of August 30, 2019 in the Qashla area of Baghdad as part of the union campaign program called by the union to demand to the iraqi goverment a new trade union organisation and associations legislation.
The General Union has confirmed that the draft law on organizing the trade union of workers and employees has remained in place for a long time waiting to be sent by the government to parliament for approval.
In its statements, the Union expressed its concern that political wrangling would lead to the lack of legislation in the near future.
