The Algerian authorities have decided to exile the journalist and human rights defender Ahmed Ridha Benchamsi few days after releasing him from prison.Benchamsi was prisoned for participating in the protests that the country knows.
Ahmed Ridha Benchamsi is the Communications and Advocacy Director for the Middle East and North Africa Department at Human Rights Watch. The authorities accuse Benchamsi, who was arrested on 9 August, of having participated in 'foreign agendas against Algeria and infiltrating popular movements without prior authorization'.
