Trade union sources said the director of Qena governorate's labor office filed a complaint with the public prosecutor against the president of the independent union of education professionals in the region.
The sources said union president Atef Mahmoud was summoned on Thursday, despite the fact that the union has all the documents from the Ministry of Labor pertaining to its legal registration.
This incident provoked broad revolt among Egyptian trade union ranks and was considered a desperate attempt to discredit union work in the country.
