80 fake visas bought by Egyptian workers travelling to Kuwait

The Kuwaiti health office in Cairo announced that 80 fake visas had been issued. The visas were bought by Egyptian workers who wanted to travel to Kuwait, and paid about 4 million pounds, the equivalent of 60 thousand pounds per visa.

The Kuwaiti newspaper, Al-Qabas, which met with a number of victims, affirmed that the Egyptian Ministry of Manpower had taken up the case and urged security authorities in Egypt to arrest the owners of the travel company.

The newspaper affirmed that there are efforts to return the funds paid by the Egyptian workers, most of them young, and to protect them in the future from such hustlers.

Egyptian workers rank second after Indian workers among total workers in Kuwait, with more than 456 thousand workers. Moreover, the Ministry of Social Affairs and Labour took a decision last March to reduce the number of marginal workers, reducing the number of expatriate workers by 100 thousand annually for ten years, eventually reaching one million workers in total.
