The Tunisian General Labour Union (UGTT) calls for mosques and government offices to remain neutral before the elections

The UGTT called for mosques and government offices to remain neutral a few months before the legislative elections scheduled in October.

Following its last meeting, the union called on the current government to stop appointing people to important positions within the public sector and to keep the mosques neutral, stressing in a statement that "the administrations, mosques and security should be kept neutral, and apolitical. Moreover, the promotion and appointment of workers should stop until the formation of a new government, following fair and transparent elections. "

The union also expressed its rejection of a set of electoral law amendments which were ratified by the parliament last June; the amendment may lead to the exclusion of some candidates.
