The President of Parliament’s Bahrainisation Probe Committee revealed that 537 foreign employees are presently working in the Ministry of Works Municipalities Affaires and Urban Planning, he added that there were office roles such as secretaries receiving BD700 held by foreign workers instead of Bahrainis.
The ‘Ayam’ website reported that the Committee confronted the ministry about the huge number of expatriates, investigated the nature of their jobs and asked about the ministry’s plans to replace them with Bahrainis.
The minister gave examples of niche specializations that are not even offered by the Education Ministry for scholarships. This includes cost engineering, quantity surveying and water resources engineering, besides the unavailability of specialists in every animal and agriculture production job and veterinary services. The Ministry has no choice but to hire expatriates for these jobs.
