Egypt: The Center for Trade Union & Workers’ Services demands equal pay for all workers

The Center for Trade Union & Workers’ Services (CTUWS) affirmed that there isn’t any reason to polemicize about the enforcement of the article 5 of the law for the public institutions’ workers and the workers in the public business companies, by giving them the difference between the periodic raises and the exceptional additional increment, which is around 3% of their basic wage.

The CTUWS said that the minimum monthly wage of EGP 2,000 for state servants who are subject to the application of the Civil Service law and for those who are not subject to the Civil Service law, should be applied to all the workers in the country.

The CTUWS declared that the private sector’s workers suffer from the inflation, too; but their minimum wage hasn’t changed to confront the high inflation, and they don’t benefit from exceptional increments unless an agreement is signed between the employers and the Ministry of Workforces.

The CTUWS stressed the need to set a minimum wage applicable to all wage earners in the country by law, and to adapt it to confront the inflation and the high prices; meanwhile, the Center said, the law should guarantee an exceptional additional increment to all workers.
