Sudan : A peaceful mass demonstration to ask for a civilian-led government

A mass demonstration, known as the “Millions March”, took place on June 30 in different Sudanese cities demanding power to be handed over to a civilian-led government, following a call by the Declaration of Freedom and Change Forces (DFCF)

Seven persons have been killed and more than a hundred wounded according to the Central Committee of Soudan Doctors, which supports the popular movement.

The protestors raised slogans demanding the military council to hand over the power to civilians and asking for justice for the lost lives in the massacre of June 3.

The Sudanese Professionals Association (SPA) called on the demonstrators to head to the presidential palace but the security forces fired tear gas at them and closed the bridges.

The SPA posted on Twitter ”the panicking putschist power” prevented the demonstrators from approaching the palace, “thinking this would make them safe from the people’s anger”, adding that the Sudanese people’s intelligence can deal with any scenario.
