Public Works Labourers Union held a general meeting through an invitation from Mr. Assayed Muhammad Al-Khafifi, head of Public Works Company Union. This general meeting was attended by Mrs. Nirmeen Ashreef, head of Libyan Trade Union Confederation, and Mr. Ossama Al-Farsi, head of Building and Construction Company, and officer of Youth Committee within the Union.
The meeting aims to address the latest news related to the delay in paying the employees their salaries as well as the appropriate actions that must be taken in case of failure of paying throughout the coming period.
Nirmeen Ashreef assured that the union party had a promise from the government in which the Governor of Central Libyan Bank shall check the salary budget of 19 companies that are not registered in budget 2019. She announced that the bodies concerned will be given a week to apply such liabilities.
The meeting also assured that both companies don’t honor their promises, Public Works and Building and Construction companies, the employees will hold a demonstration, in addition to an open-ended strike that will be in 3rd July 2019.
