"The National" UAE stated that Qatar spent 3 billion dirham on 40 stadiums to be ready for the World Cup 2022, however, the migrant labourers, who are building it, earn only 3.8 dirhams per hour.
"The National" website revealed that more than 1400 migrants died due to the bad work conditions. Human Rights groups anticipate that the death toll will continue to rise by 2022.
In this regard, Nepal and Philippine took unified actions, last week, in an attempt to protect their citizens working in Qatar against violations. Commission on Human Rights of the Philippines Chairperson, Chito Gascon said: "Eventually, Qatar committed to stick to the international labour standards".
"That is why we have to work closely with our embassies there, to assure that Qatari government will address all cases related to human rights promptly", he added.
