Saudi Arabia: The investigation of more than 4 700 disciplinary cases with the government officials

Saudi Arabia's Al-Riyadh newspaper reported that during last year, the supervisory authority investigated 4 751 disciplinary cases and 508 criminal cases.

During this period, the supervisory authority investigated the financial and administrative irregularities and cases, including the non-implementation of the administrative procedures and instructions, as well as the violations committed by the employees, who are subject to the supervisory authority. Thus, the violators shall be called upon to hear their statements and to get their penalty corresponding to the offense committed; then, they should be reported to their employers. Moreover, the supervisory authority shall be provided with a copy of the enforcement order.

According to the supervisory authority’s annual report for the last financial year, the authority received 4826 cases, prosecuted 823 cases, objected judgments in 36 cases, where 89% were disciplinary cases, and 11% criminal. Besides, the number of Saudi accused in disciplinary cases reached 95% and 82% for the criminal cases. In addition, the authority issued 396 indictments against those who were charged, after completing all the necessary stages of the investigation and the gathering of evidence.

A number of disciplinary decisions issued against its employees have been issued by the authority with various penalties, where the most important disciplinary sanctions were salary deduction, followed by the penalty of warning, blame, dismissal, and finally the penalty of deprivation of periodic allowance. The total number of these decisions reached 4691, of which 652 were warning orders, 197 blame decisions, 13 were deprived of the periodic allowance and 41 were dismissed. Moreover, 3 789 salaries have been deducted, including the Ministry of Health with 1940 decisions, then the municipal affairs with 833, following respectively by the justice by 340 decisions, 331 in education and 216 in the Saudi Arabian Airlines Corporation.
