The workers of the brick factory and the owners of trucks in the province of Kasserine called the Prime Minister and the Minister of State Property and Real Estate Affairs to urgently intervene and rescue the confiscated factory since 2011 from closure, as well as to protection the workers from unemployment.
According to Tunis Afrique Presse, quoting the head of the workers' union of the brick factory, Mohamed Alawi, the factory's commercial director (the state’s partner with 50 percent) had recently expressed his intention to close the factory because of the accumulation of unpaid debts of the state institutions.
The workers of the factory and the owners of transport trucks launched on Monday, 3 June, a protest in front of the headquarters of the regional labour union of the province to ask for the non-closure of the plant.
The head of the union pointed out that the owner of the institution has been required many times to save it from bankruptcy, especially as it provides about 400 direct and indirect jobs, which is almost the second industrial institution in Kasserine with great employment capacity.
It is noteworthy that the brick factory in Kasserine was established in 1976 with a daily production capacity of 250 thousand tons.
