Egypt: costs of the increases of the public servants wages.

The budget of the new fiscal year for 2019/2020 presented to the parliament witnessed an increase in the estimates of wages of the permanent state employees by about 15 billion and 266 million pounds for the current fiscal year.

According to the analytical statement of the budget, the allocations for permanent posts during the fiscal year 2019/2020 amounted to 83 billion pounds and 771 million pounds against 68 billion and 505 million pounds in the fiscal year 2018/2019, out of 301 billion and 115 million pounds of wage estimates and compensation of workers.

The salary allocations for permanent posts are 33 billion and 883 million pounds for the basic salaries in the new budget compared to 23 billion and 399 million pounds this year. The estimated costs of seconded staff members are 381 million pounds against 336 million pounds this year; the cost of the school holidays is estimated at one million pounds, which is the same amount as the current year's budget.

The allocation of the employees’ wages estimated at 49 billion and 442 million pounds for 2018/2019, compared to 44 billion and 769 million pounds, an increase of 4 billion and 673 million pounds.

The wages and salaries of those who are under the provisions of Law No. (28) of 2018 were estimated at 64 million pounds during the new fiscal year 2019/2020.

It is noteworthy that the total wages and compensation of workers in the draft budget for the new fiscal year amounted to 301.1 billion pounds (4.9% of GDP) to finance the wages, bonuses and incentives for the employees of the state budget agencies; compared to 270.090 billion pounds this year (5.1% of GDP) in the current year's budget 2018/2019, an increase of 31.025 billion pounds.
