In light of the International Labour Organization (ILO) Centenary celebrations, a march with the participation of representatives of the international trade union organizations will be held on Monday 17 June 2019 at Mon Repos Square towards the famous United Nations square, following the ITUC call and organization.
This protest aims at raising calls and demands to the international community and governments on the trade union freedoms, the right to strike, the right to collective bargaining, the imposition of a social contract that guarantees the basic rights of workers, the right to decent wages, health and safety and the right to decent work.
The march also calls for the adoption of a binding convention to address harassment and violence at the workplace.
The event will be led by the ITUC Secretary General of the International Confederation, Sharan Burrow , who will deliver a speech in the United Nations square, in addition to other representatives of international trade union organizations, including Philippe Martinez, the Secretary General of the French CGT, Joséphine Shimbi Umba the representative of CSC in Congo, Alessandro Pelizari, the resident of CGAS, and Stefan Coton, the Secretary General of ITF.
