Several international and Arabic human rights association appeal to the international community to take urgent action and measures to stop the Israeli occupation authorities' persecution of the journalist Mustafa Kharouf, who has been detained for months, and their attempt to deport him far from his family and far from Al-Quds, where he has lived since he was a child.
The Palestinian Center for Development and Media Freedoms (Mada), quoting Tamam Kharouf, the wife of the journalist Mustafa Kharouf, expressed that Mustafa was able to communicate with her on Monday morning 13/5/2019 and informed her that he was given a paper and pencil by the Zionist interrogators, who asked him to write a request in his handwriting saying that he wants to seek asylum in Jordan and seal it with his signature, but he refused.
For 20 years, the occupation authorities refuse to allow him to be with his family or grant him a residence permit or visa, making him an "illegal resident." He has no legal residence anywhere in the world, even in the West Bank or Jordan. His family members, including his wife and daughter, have blue permits (residence in Al-Quds). Mustafa has tried many times to obtain his official papers, but the occupation’s Ministry of the Interior rejected his repeated requests, and he even filed an appeal to the ‘Israeli’ court against the ministry's decision on the pretext of "security reasons" on 21/1/2019.
One day later, on January 22nd, 2011, he was arrested by the Israeli police and transferred to the Jiffun prison in Ramla, which is a prison for the deportation of the "illegal" foreign workers. However, although that he has no other nationality or residence elsewhere in the world because of his work as a journalist, he is still detained.
