The National Office of the Moroccan Journalist’s Syndicate of the Moroccan Workers’ Union declared its absolute and unconditional solidarity with the journalist Kamal Al-Chamsi. Moreover, it called for stopping the oppressive measures taken by some politicians and elected officials in order to restrict and oppress the media representatives.
The National Bureau of the Syndicate recorded a series of violations in its statement, denouncing the complainant's request to link the press coverage to the serving of some people’s agendas, and the necessity of a authorisation as the journalist was just a normal employee working for the Ministry of Interior.
The office also recorded the maltreatment of the head of “Al-Sharat" group on the media sector. In fact, Kamal Al-Chamsi, was subjected to insults and humiliation, stressing its support of the judiciary in order to look for the truth, support the victim and punish the oppressors, as stipulated by the laws of the country. It also called for the suspension of the judicial proceedings that aim to intimidate and harass the journalists.
