Condemning the threat of the public workers’ dismissal: The ILO suspends the Sudan’s membership

The International Labor Organization (ILO) suspended the Sudan’s membership because of the statements made by the Vice-President of the Military Council, Lieutenant General Mohammad Hamdan (Hamidati), who threatened to arbitrarily dismiss workers, throughout Sudan after they announced a strike.

The ILO expressed in a statement that no official in any country is entitled to dismiss all workers in the state, while they are practising a fundamental right of their internationally recognized rights.

According to the ILO’s statement: "The threat of dismissing all workers in the state is irresponsible, because their exclusion has to be in accordance to the law”
