Morocco: The judges ask for the increase in their wages and compensations

The Executive Office of the Moroccan Judges Club announced that it has begun its movement to defend the judges’ suspended professional and social demands, after the procrastination and disregard by the authorities. It called on all the judges of the kingdom to a public meeting, at the Higher Institute of the Judiciary, in Rabat in order to study these forms with a session with the National Council to arrange these forms of protest and programming time.

The Executive Office called on the government to meet its international agreement, regarding the activation of the universal principle of periodic review of the judges’ remunerations, in accordance with the current indicators. Moreover, it called on to expedite the issuance of the regulatory texts relating the compensation of mobility, residence, and supervision. For those whose sessions are extended late, at night, they provided that such compensation is appropriate for the judicial office as opposed to that proposed in the draft regulatory decree.

The judges also requested compensation and awards for seizing the verdicts, because of the additional burdens on the judge's work, and compensations for the injunctive execution by the judges and the vice-deputies of the king.

The judges' club also called for the thirteenth- and fourteenth-month wages, as implemented in several sectors, to overcome many constraints and economic pressures that could adversely affect the financial stability of the judges, thus affecting the stability and quality of their work, as well as the raise in their compensation for housing.
