Last Sunday, hundreds of health and nursing workers organized a protest rally outside the Ministry of Finance headquarters in Baghdad, asking for their suspended financial and professional dues.
Thousands of protestors came from several provinces, raising banners and slogans, calling for the meeting of their demands regarding their financial dues, as promised by the Ministry of Health.
The cabinet had previously agreed on rising of the housing allowance for the health professionals, including the second-degree workers, starting from the date of the issuance of decision 61, following the medical workers’ strike on the increasing in the housing allowance and the allocation of risk.
A joint negotiating delegation of a number of parliamentarians and members of the health and nursing professions’ coordination from different governorates was formed to meet with the Minister of Finance, who agreed to provide them with the financial allowance.
In the meantime, the Ministry of Finance issued a decree on the health professions’ allowances, including the sending of the special lists including the health professionals, who need the allowance by the health departments in the provinces, where these demands have to be met within 30 days. Moreover, the risk allowance for the health professionals will reach 30 percent of the nominal wage.
