Dozens of workers at the Aqaba company for the management and operation of ports launched a protest in front of the company’s gate, last Sunday, to ask for their appointment.
The Labour Observatory said on its Facebook page that the workers asked for an increase in their salaries, which "reaches 350 dinars (493 dollars) and didn’t get any increase for five years”, as well as the activation of the company's financial and administrative system, in addition to the productivity and transport allowances.
The workers said that they felt that they were "oppressed as the company hired new workers with higher salaries, under the pretext that they were contractual workers”.
It is noteworthy that the port workers have been employed as contractual workers for 5 years, and that their number is about 750 workers.
