Sudan: The reasons behind the Greater Nile Petroleum Company’s (GNPOC) workers’ strike

The Greater Nile Petroleum Company’s (GNPOC) employees, in the Heglig field, entered in a strike on Saturday, which is expected to be followed by other strikes in the fields of Nim, Difra, Knar and Bango.

According to the official Facebook page of the Sudanese professional’s association, the workers are asking for the payment of the old accumulated financial dues and the exclusion of PetroNeeds company (of the National Security Agency), which is known for its bad reputation, according to all the fields.

They are also asking for the disclosure of the signed contracts between the big companies and PetroNeeds during the last period, and the direct contract with the mother company, whether OPCO or GNPOC, stressing that the old case filed by the workers against PetroNeeds, which was rejected by the Constitutional Court has to be reviewed again.
