Mauritania: The public media collaborators are asking for the settlement of their pending situations

The Mauritanian public media workers organized a protest in front of the Presidential Palace in the Mauritanian capital, Nouakchott, on Thursday morning to ask for their appointment.

The collaborators protested with the public media institutions, including the Mauritanian news agency, the national radio and television, against what they described as the exclusion from the subscription and appointment decision taken by the government.

The protesters told the local media that the press field in Mauritania depended on the cooperating journalists working for low salaries and in poor conditions, asking for the settlement of this situation that has been pending for decades.

The Mauritanian Syndicate for the public media collaborators accuses some government authorities headed by the ministry of economy and finance, the ministry of public service, labour and employment and the modernization of the administration, as they are the reason behind the current collaborators’ situation. In fact, they are not taking any initiative in this direction, for no reasons.
