The Kasserine Hospital Syndicate decided to enter into a strike on May 2, 2019 in protest against the high level of violence against workers and the semi-medical and medical cadres amid the silence of the authorities.
The Tunisian newspaper, Al-Chaab, stated that the workers carried out a protest on April 16, under the Tunisian General Labour Union (UGTT). They announced their rejection of the recent attacks and in solidarity with one of their colleagues, who was assaulted by two prison workers who were accompanying a prisoner who was in hospital on 15 April.
Both the policemen and the trade union considered that this outrageous attack on their colleague is the continuation of the series of repeated attacks that affected the medical and paramedical cadres, nurses and employers, as well as the equipment and supplies, despite the warnings of the former trade union party and its demand to take the necessary measures to protect the hospital and stop the aggressors. However, this phenomenon continued to worsen, affecting all the public health institutions in the governorate.
