The ninth Friday in Algeria renew its rejection of the pro-Bouteflika regime and the campaigns to disperse the popular movement

Hundreds of demonstrators poured into the central post office in Algiers on Friday morning for the ninth week in a row, to protest against the presence of the pro-Bouteflika regime in the authority, during the transitional period.

Anadolu news agency reported that the early marches began in the Algerian capital on the ninth day of the popular movement, despite the tightening of control on the roads leading to the center of the city and the halt of the public transport.

More than 2 000 demonstrators gathered at the central post office in the center of the capital at 8:30 am (local time), amid an intense police presence.

The local media have reported that the security has tighten the entrances to the capital since last night, which led to long queues of traffic.

The demonstrators chanted slogans calling for the departure of the pro-Bouteflika regime and the rejection of the dialogue sessions launched by the interim President Abdelkader Ben Saleh.

The presidency called on parties, public figures and organizations to participate in a "collective consultative meeting" on the current crisis in the country, which is scheduled for next Monday. However, these calls were rejected by the majority of the opposition parties and considered it as "a provocation to the people."

In the same context, the Trade Union Confederation of Productive in Algeria valued the workers and union’s pressure on the authorities by exercising the right to strike and forcing them twice to submit to the popular demands, and thanks to the total paralysis of all sectors within two weeks Al-Tayeb Bilayez and Mouadh Bouchareb were forced to resign and withdraw from the political scene.

The confederation pointed out in a statement that the police intervened in the capital, arresting more than 72 members of the confederation, including four leaders who were beaten and tortured inside police trucks, asserting their intention to take strict legal measures against the Director General of the National Security and the authority in this regard.

It also condemned the campaigns carried out by the pro-regime unions, some of the media and pages on the social media to break the general strike, which succeeded in spite of all this. Moreover, it condemned the prolongation of the duration of the crisis instead of working hardly to meet the people’s demands.
