On Wednesday, April 17, the administrative committee of the Moroccan Worker’s Union held a meeting at the union’s main headquarters on the renewal of social dialogue and the discussion of the government's offer, in this regard.
The administrative committee considered that this offer does not meet the aspirations and the expectations of the Moroccan working class, but compared with the previous offer, it is a positive step a stage towards meeting more of the working class’ legitimate demands and addressing the salaries’ cuts due to the so-called pension reform programme.
It also considered that the government’s offer is an initial step towards meeting the rest of the working class’ demands. Moreover, it authorized the National Secretariat to follow up the dialogue on the labour legislation and the trade union freedoms.
In its communiqué, the administrative committee called on various unions and federations to continue mobilizing in order to obtain the just and legitimate demands affirmed by the Twelfth National Congress of the Moroccan Workers’ Union.
In fact, the Moroccan government has proposed two issues, the first is related to the improvement in income, and the second includes the legislative aspects and trade union freedoms. The financial aspect is represented in the increase in salaries by 500 dirhams ($ 52) to the employees in the 10th grade and below, and 400 dirhams ($ 42) for the 6th grade employees and above, divided in three instalments, in addition to the increase in the minimum wage of the industrial, commercial, services and agricultural sectors by 10% in two instalments, and an increase of 100 dirhams ($ 10) in the family compensation for the first three children.
