About the contractual teachers’ file in Morocco: The education unions warn the Ministry of Education of the consequences of the end of their patience

The recent statements made by Said Amazazi, the Minister of National Education, Vocational Training, Higher Education and Scientific Research, raised the anger of most of the educational unions when he stressed that the teachers’ demand for "integration" would never be met, which is a direct violation of the two parties’ “armistice”.

The National Federation for Education (democratic) called for the "cancellation of the law and contracts, as well as the immediate integration of all teachers in the public service". It asked also the ministry to address the file "contractual teachers" to end the growing tension within the system ".

The two unions stressed that there were great efforts to find a way out for a fair solution for the teachers who were forced to contract. They pointed out that the initiative of the educational unions, together with the National Council for Human Rights and the National Observatory of the Education and Training System, was successful.

The education unions consider that the officials of the Ministry of National Education have to be more prudent and wiser, especially that everyone is waiting for the meeting on April 23, in order to establish an agreement in favour of the teachers who were forced to contract, stressing the need to stop the administrative procedures and deductions,

The unions denounced the minister’s absence from the meeting that took place with the coordination, especially as the subject concerns the public school and the fate of the Moroccan students. However, the minister's statements sparked the situation even more, as they are against the interest of the country; which led the National Coordination Committee to continue the strike.
