The new company owner, Emaar Industries issued an administrative decision, last Thursday to suspend the Helwan Cement Factory in Minya on the pretext of fearing for the safety of the equipment.
The decision was issued, while the company's employees have been engaged in a strike for more than a week to meet their legitimate rights.
The protesting workers confirmed that the factory’s productivity during the strike period is the highest compared to previous periods, pointing out that this measure is a continuation of the series of the violation of the company employees’ rights.
We have mentioned in an earlier e-newsletter that negotiations and mediation efforts failed to oblige the owner company to adhere to the workers’ rights in the collective agreement. In fact, the company has suspended the workers’ treatment and their families since March 1st, and declined to pay the premium from January 1, 2019, and the payment of the percentage of employees in profits for 2018.
