Tunisia: A number of roads have been closed to protest against the rise in the fuel prices

A number of trucks, taxis and private cars’ drivers closed the roads of a number of Tunisian cities, according to the local media’s report.

The media sources confirmed that the truck drivers closed the road to protest against the increase in the fuel prices.

The Tunisian General Labour Union (UGTT) Tunisian denounced the increase, which is added to the unanticipated measure of the increase in the interest rate of the directorate, which is the responsibility of the government because of the failure of its economic and financial policies and not the people.

The UGTT blamed the government for disturbing the social climate, considering that this increase is an indirect way to fraud the wage-earners and take their recent wage increases. Moreover, this measure contributes to the further exacerbation of the institutions and peasants’ crisis by adding additional burdens on them.

The organization condemned the government's insistence on cancelling the Ministry of Energy, despite its strategic nature, calling for its restoration and the appointment of those responsible for its reform and the control of its program, stressing the right of Tunisians to express their rejection of this unjustifiable increase in all peaceful forms of struggle.

It is noteworthy that the Tunisian government approved, last Saturday to raise the fuel price, which rejected by citizens, parties and national organizations.
