The National Coordinating Committee of the Cell 9 Teachers and the National Coordinating Officers of the Ministry of National Education announced that a national strike will be held, along with an extended strike, starting from 22 April, in case the Ministry of National Education does not meet the demands of both parties.
"The national coordination of the cell 9 teachers" stressed in its statement that the next new step comes as a result of the "persistent insistence by the government to fuel the tension in the educational system" highlighting that it "has already used all forms of peaceful and civilized struggle."
The Coordinating Committee condemned the policy of restriction on the activists of cell 9, as well as the violation of rights, and workers’ freedom, especially the right to strike and the right to demonstrate and protest, which are guaranteed by the constitution and international covenants, stressing their rejection of the ineffective solutions proposed at the February 25 meeting.
For its part, the national coordination of the National Education Ministry officials confirmed that there are illegal practices used by the ministry in response to the peaceful struggles of the Ministry of National Education employees, who have been certified for more than three years, stressing their intention to "implement all the escalatory alternatives, including the open strike and the boycott of the national exams. It expressed also its “surprise” over the continuation of the Ministry of National Education to disregard the coordination’s struggles. "
