Miloudi Moukharek was elected as Secretary-General of the Moroccan Workers’ Union for a third term, at the conclusion of the union 12th congress, on Sunday, in Casablanca.
A statement issued by the conference pointed out that Moukharek was elected by consensus of the two congresses. In fact, it was attended by about 1 500 delegates representing about 110 trade unions and trade union organization of the union, which is considered the most representative union of the Moroccan trade unions, especially in the private sector.
The congress also resulted in the election of the 365 members of the Administrative Committee, as well as the members of the National Secretariat, whose number had risen from 13 in the previous mandate to 21, today.
Moukharek, 64 years old, has been the General Secretariat of the Moroccan Workers’ Union since December 2010, when he was elected as the first general secretary to succeed the historic leader of the union, Mahjoub Ben Siddique, in 1955, following his death of Ben Siddiq, in September 2010 at the age of 88 years old.
