Sultanate of Oman: A beneficial agreement for the working women in the government service jobs

The General Union of Workers succeeded in settling the working women’s demands, who work in a government service job. The demands included the payment of the periodic allowance, the provision of health insurance, and the organization of the shift schedule, following a meeting held on Monday between the legal researcher, Ibrahim ben Abdullah Al-Ghribi, the company's management, and a number of the company specialists.

The two parties agreed that the company will pay the periodic allowance to all workers, who did not receive it during the current year, starting from March and retroactively from January.

As for the demand to provide health insurance, it was agreed to provide it, in accordance with the decision issued by the Capital Market Authority. In case of any illness during work, the company will pay all the costs of the treatment, in addition to its commitment to annually change the official working uniforms.

The two parties agreed also to set a schedule for the permits on the weekly rest days, and to be flexible, taking into account the exceptional conditions that would prevent them from working, in coordination with another worker to replace them. The company's management compensates for work, according to the law either with a holiday-replacement or with a renumeration for working in the weekends.
